in the kitchen with sarah day 2

So all my friends at work were begging me to make peanut butter cakes for them, so of course i had to make them.

I've never made them before and the only peanut butter ive ever tried is from resse's pieces (Yum) so i was so worried then wouldn't taste nice. i think i searched for hours on end to find a perfect recipe for me to use but they all came up with so many different ones that i just took the basics and put them into one. i scooped my batter out in the cases put them in the over for 15mins and listened to my jamie oliver egg timer app click away. i started to think what on earth shall i use as frosting, so i looked through the cupboards and couldn't find anything, i decided to see what they had at the shop and low and behold Nutella. easiest thing that wouldn't take too much attention away from the peanut butteryness. jamie oliver rang and i poped the cakes out the oven, they smelt amazing and had risen well.

after i let them cool i put the nutella on and itched to try one.

They were a little bit dry but i expected that because they do tend to be dry. the nutella soon took the dry taste away and it just tasted like peanut buttery heaven really. im glad i chose nutella cause it made the cake taste about 10x better than what it would of been plain, which was what i was going to go with.

So there you go you need to try these if your a peanut butter fan. Yum

in the kitchen with sarah day 1

So the past couple of months or so ive been baking cakes, cakes and more cakes so im going to do a few post of the cupcakes ive made.
I've always loved baking cakes but after i left school i just stopped baking. i was looking into it to do at college but chose graphic design instead, that was a big fail.
when the guys at 1000 heads invited me to the Aussie market night in leeds me and my sister jen thought of doing a cupcake stall so we got our bakers heads on and not stopped since. Trying to perfect my frosting has been the hardest and i still dont think im there, i love my sponge, if i do say so myself.
Okay so today i made Cupcake surprise, my best decorated cupcakes so far :D

Pictures were taken from my fab app instagram it puts an affect on the pictures you take and you can post them on twitter facebook flickr etc. the only problem is that the pictures you take dont get saved to your album on the phone only saves on this app.

so anyway im going to make these at the christmas markets so if any of you are going please stop by and try one :D

Aussie post

Because i have 3 things i want to post about Aussie i thought i might put it all in one.

Okay so the first thing i want to tell you about is the
Aussome volume tribe party
okay maybe it was back in july and im a bit late but hey save the best till last....??

So me and my sister got an invite from the wonderful Emma asking if we wanted to go to the Aussome volume party and it was 60's theme so of course we had to go, Aussie do the best events. it was in my beautiful yet rainy home town of Manchester, in the northern quarter in Bluu bar. When we arrived we were treated with champagne and lots of it.
The whole night was based on Massive 60's hair. I Love huge hair, it was hairspray and backcombing galore.
Zara and Amber where there with their hairdryers, combs, hairspray and paddle brushes at the ready to treat us all with a Aussome hairstyle. Everybodys hairs look fab and voluminous. "Bee hive for me please, the bigger the better" and so i got my wish with a few added curls. After i had my hair done i wrote my rather drunken hair tip for the style bible which i will show you on the next part.

A few Cocktails and karaoke songs later me and my sister had to go to catch the last train home and leave the rest of thr angels having fun, considering we are the ones that live in Manchester we are the first ones to go  :( but we had a fantastic night that will never be forgotten.
As we said goodbye Emma gave us a goodie bag that had some marvellous products in not to mention the yummy lollipop we munched on the walk to the train station.

i also got a headband and a maxfactor liquid eyeliner that i haven't put down since i put it on everyday and it stays put i love it best eyeliner i have ever used (review coming soon).

The Style Bible
this past of the post is about the style bible aussie very graciously put together for us.
at each tribe parties every angel and guest had to write a down a hair tip to share with everyone.
and boy did it help alot.

This was my tip. I don't think this makes sense.
i know what it means because i wrote it.
What i mean is my hair is so thick it gets greasy easily. i decided to stop conditioning my hair every time i was it and i didn't wash it everyday because it makes my hair dry. I started off conditioning once a week then once a fortnight then i didn't condition i just used Aussie 3 minute miracle once a fortnight my hair wasn't as greasy as often it took a few months for my hair to get used to it and eventually my hair did start to look healthier and alot stronger which that wasn't my point of doing it but its a massive bonus.
I've recently dyed my hair i wouldn't say dye i would say put every stripping product on my hair just to get the red out so i can go blonde. it didn't work as much as i hoped its got blonde highlights but the rest is just ginger well i wouldn't even say ginger its ORANGE. so anyway i'm in the process of repairing my hair so i can get it bleached and my hair wont fall out. i haven't got really damaged hair it just needs a but of TLC so i have to condition and treat my hair more often. so yea my point is ........i don't really have a point actually just a statement. my hair is a mess right now so this bible is helping me alot.
Thanks angels xox

Aussie Angel

So i'm officially an aussie angel wings n all im soo happy and grateful to be one.

look out for more aussie post.

Where I've been

Instead of me explaining where i've been for the past million months i will show you i've been working like crazy and fitting everything in between shifts and my blog just got pushed to the side for a while but don't worry i haven't forgotten about it.

I'm off sick today cause i have that bug that's making its way around :( so i thought instead of lying in bed feeling sorry for myself i will do some post :D

so here is where i've been for the past few months

(Went to see fake that at the Village in hyde for my mums birthday)
(The Aussie Aussome Volume tribe 60's themed event)

(Meteor shower watching we sat out in the cold for 3 hours and saw 1)

(Drinking pink in my mums friends garden having a chin-wag)

(I went on my second holiday of the year to majorca with the family)

                                                             (Friends 19th in town)
(I met Ronald Mcdonald at work -see there are some perks you get to meet a creepy clown)
                                                        (Played hide-n-seek with Ronald)

(Tried to be a not so convincing Hippie at a works party)
(Said goodbye to a friend -believe it or not i didn't touch a drop of alcohol that night)

(Went to Alton Towers for the millionth time had the best time ever)

(Become an Official Aussie Angel)
I'm having trouble putting it on my side bar atm it keeps disappearing :(

And also I'm attempting to change the colour of my hair i'm going blonde i love the colour but all the red that's in my hair its driving my mad but i will not give up then i'm getting hair extensions because my hair is far too short.

I got an Iphone4 aswell i love it best phone i have ever had so glad i didnt get the 3gs.

I shall be back this week with more post bare with me whilst i sort my blog out its driving me crazy at the moment any suggestions welcome :D

BRAND NEW LAPTOP!!

Woo! i've got a new laptop i'm so happy i didn't think i would last for 2/4 weeks without one.
i LOVE it. its beautiful and its name is LAPPY. named by my mum.
any way. some post should be coming your way sometime soon.
i came back from Ibiza 3 weeks ago and ever since i have been working like crazy to have money i honestly do not know where my money is going i haven't bought makeup for about 3/4 months now so i think i have a hole in my bank. Today was my only day off and i spent the day playing on some annoying game on facebook called qilox its so addictive and downloading adobe creative suite so i could design a new header. i have one up now but I'm going to make it bigger tomorrow unless you guys think it looks alright?

my next day off is Friday now :( i will try my hardest to make a post i promise.

before i go i realised the other day that i put MIM at the bottom of my post and never explained it to you.

my url is make it makeup and my blog being named makeup is my boyfriend.
when i was thinking of a user name for MAF i came up with make it makeup and in my head i abbreviated it MIM until someone called me MIM i was so excited someone called me that i didn't think i could pull it off.
so basically i am known as MIM with a blog named makeup is my boyfriend
Does that make any sense i hope it does.

i shall be posting about the Aussie aussome volume tribe event i attended on Thursday here is a little sneak peak at what will be coming up in the post

Good Night/ Good Day where ever in the world you are.

FACE WEEK: simple baby wipes

I can't stand makeup wipes they do my head in. there are quite dry and they smell. so i decided to swap and use baby wipes. i started to use Johnson's baby wipes then i thought they were a bit expensive so i went on the hunt for new ones. and found these I've used simple before and liked their stuff so i thought for £2 why not? i love them they are miles better than Johnson's more softer and only take one to take makeup off both eyes. that's a plus :)
i think thats all i can say really. in my opinion splashing an extra pound or two on johnson's or simple baby wipes is better than asda wipes. my mum bought me asda's the other week and ive gone through quite alot considering they murder my face and bring me out in spots.

Hoped you like my FACE WEEK! any products that you've been loving or loathing lately?

MIM xx

FACE WEEK: Garnier pureA intensive night treatment gel

This for drug store is Fab. it doesn't magically work over night but it soothes the spot. i would say it takes about two/three nights to clear the spot. the smell isn't the best of smells but what spot treatment gel is?
you only need a little dot on each spot and massage it into the skin. it feels abit sticky but that soon fades. on a spot that has scabbed over it does sting for a couple of seconds but i always think that its working if it stings only because my skin feels it so it must be doing something.

"its formula with salicylic acid and zinc fights blemishes and helps to clear imperfections and their marks while leaving the skin comfortable"

i don't think i have any problem with this because it has been working for about 5 months now and its over half full so i have another few months before i have to chuck it. i think its was £5 or more possibly im not sure on the price i bought it just before Christmas.

i highlighted help because it annoys me when people moan about products that don't magically work for them. it says helps to clear not get rid of them straight away. just to clarify that. :D

tomorrow's post will be the last of my reviews for FACE WEEK! keep a look out.

FACE WEEK: Garnier clean&soft cleansing milk

I Love this stuff. it makes taking my makeup off so easy. and it doesn't sting my eyes at first when i had no idea how to use it around my eyes it did but when i figured out away to do it none went into my eyes. i put a bit of a cotton pad then pressing it on another one so i have two then close my eyes and press one of each pads on my eyes making sure i have covered my whole lid then wipe. its all off i might have to clean up a little bit. did that make sense i hope it did i would show but i ran out of it last week.
How does it work?
complete cleansing milk is enriched with cleansing micro-dispersed oils and essence or rose. the creamy formula perfectly removes make-up impurities whilst being very gentle. it provides your skin with care and comfort, and leaves it clean&soft"

I find this the same as the toner it leaves my skin feeling so clean and soft and the smell is gorgeous.
the texture is too thick and its too thin. its just right. the amount of cleansing milk i have used and there were so runny.

i love garnier their products are amazing. with my skin i have to be careful with what skin care i use because don't want to break out in spots. garnier just does everything i want it to do. and my skin feels amazing afterwards. the two products i have might not get rid of my spots but they help clean and refresh my skin actually i do have one garnier product that gets rid of spots but you'll just have to read tomorrows post :D

FACE WEEK: Garnier soft essentials soothing toner.

Now i don't really know what toner actually is. It says on the bottle "a toner is ideal as a daily way to hydrate and soften dry and sensitive skin for a beautiful complexion that lookes fresh and radiant."
How does it work?
"Every day, the rose water and pro vitamin B5 enriched formular removes any remaining impurities whilst respecting delicate skin"

Right well i suppose it has given me nicer cleaner skin. i have been using this for about 6 months.
I use this toner when ever i don't have makeup on and/or when i feel my skin needs a good cleanse.
I love the smell of this its gorgeous which i suppose is a plus.

After i use it my skin feels so much cleaner.
when i know i'm going to have a long day before i moisturise and what not i wipe this all over my face and put my hairdryer on the lowest heat and dry it into my skin. i also do this with MAC's fix+ which is kind of like the same thing.
i find my skin feels cleaner for longer.
I also don't need much on the cotton pad it spreads really well. i suppose it is water really.

thanks for Reading

FACE WEEK: Johnson's baby moisturiser

When i first bought this i was worried it wouldn't be a good moisturiser. i was skint and it was £3 so anything would do. my face was in desperate need of moisture after the winter we had.

I loved it. my face got a bit clearer and softer i was thinking wow. its amazing for the price i paid.
But i stopped using it for a week and that's when things when slightly down hill. i started using it again and it just didn't do anything. it was just another product sitting on my face, that was the last thing i wanted another product with no purpose clogging up my pores on my face.

The texture is quite thick although you don't need much to cover your face and even your neck.
This is how much i use.
I know it's for baby's but on the back it reads " gently moisturises skin leaving it perfectly baby soft. clinically proven mild enough to use on face and all over baby skin." so if it says it's good enough then it must be...right?
i mean i only had one break out whilst using this and i put that down to stress. it didn't react with my skin at all.
All in all i think that for £3 its a good short term product, you know the moisturiser you buy in between saving up for that must-have expensive one.

So i'm still on the look out for "the one"
Face products just don't seem to work for me neither do any hair products but thats another story :D

Thanks MIM.

Face Week.

Okay so I'm back. I was just struck with inspiration about half an hour ago when i was cleaning my face. Hence the title for this post.
So this week i am going to review 5 face products for you. all but one that i have used for over 4 months.
Tonight i am going to start with my skin. it has taken me a while to figure out what sort of skin type i have, oily, dry, normal, combination. it kept changing so i just said combination but as months have gone past i actually started to look at my skin and take notice of how oily or dry my face actually is. my skin is dry and sensitive. I've always known i had sensitive skin. especially with Nivea products i break out really bad with anything from their line. but i didn't think i had dry skin. but i haven't got oily skin any more. that i know of anyway i could be wrong.

All the way through high school i had spots bad. not as bad as other people but every morning i had a new spot on my face. FRUSTRATING i know. it carried on for another year after i left. i suppose working at mcdonalds doesn't help in anyway. in the past 1 or so my skin has cleared up so much. and now i rarely get spots. i have a lot of blackheads and blemishes but spots appear when im stressed and that's it or when i have my eyebrows or top lip waxed.

i hate my face without makeup i look like a completely different person and don't post pictures without foundation on but i don't think this post will make sense without showing you what my skin looks like.

i know its not that bad but i just want to find a way to clear all the blemishes and get rid of blackheads.

^^^these spots are my stress spots that visited my yesterday :(

so if any of you can help in any thing. like what skin type i am, how to clear my skin up etc please leave a comment.

Keep posted throughout the week for what products i have been using.

Bloggers Event. Aussie To The Rescue.

(some of these pictures were taken from Aussie's Flicker the rest are my own pictures)

On Wednesday night Emma and Lisa from Aussie invited me to an event. of which i am so grateful for them invited me as i had a great night. Meeting fellow bloggers i think i was the youngest there. anyway. the penthouse  of which the event was held was very beautiful i just wanted to live there, although the view made me abit queasy. So anyway back to the event.

The Aussie philosophy is "There's more to life than hair - but it's a good place to start"
and Wednesday night was Aussie's first "Aussie to the rescue" event and it was held in the penthouse suite at the Light Boutique Hotel, Manchester. Me, my sister and a few other bloggers attended the fabulous event. and was helped my Stevey the stylist, he really did save my life last night and got who i was straight away. Cassie the Makeup Artist and Amber the hairstylist sadly i didn't get chance to visit Amber my mum was waiting outside for me and my sister.
Cassie used Maxfactor Products as the event was sponsored by them. It sort of opened my eyes a little bit with their products all i have bought from them before was powder and false lash effect mascara. Cassie used Second skin foundation on me i thought the colour was a tiny bit too dark for my skin colour as i like to be pale but i was willing to try anything. the foundation on the other hand was beautiful i will be defiantly picking my self one up :D the blush she used was so pretty unfortunately i didn't get the name of that one.

My drink was constantly being topped up my the AMAZING bar tender Ian. His cocktails were very Yummy and More-ish. Emma and Lisa did a fab job at hosting this event and they didn't let us leave without our goody bags that had everything i was looking for including a good hold hairspray and a volume and gloss hairspray and a heat protector and a few Maxfactor goodies. Thank you Aussie for this opportunity i had a great time and you really did rescue me from my fashion issues.
<<

I shall be reviewing these products as i use them more. keep a look out for the post.
Okay so i shall show you a few pictures. sorry about the view pictures but i have lived in Manchester my whole life and i am in the city centre every 2 weeks and i have never seen it from that height.

Thank You again Aussie i had a brilliant night and learnt ALOT. xxxx
